Trudy by Jessica Lee Anderson

Significance-I think that this work matters because it is about a girl who's parents are old enough to be her Grandparents and her Dad starts to get sick and she has to deal with that and how everyone thinks that her parents are her Grandparents. This is good for girls who's parents are really old or if your parents are different than others. And that is what I think is important. You should care about this situation because she has alot to deal with. As you get older you have more health problems to deal with and the main character(Trudy) is just in Middle School so her Dad is close to death while she is just turning twelve.

Perspective-The author is clearly for these kinds of situations because how she describes how Trudy is coping with all of this is very real. And it seems like the author wants to tell girls who's parents are like that that it's okay, and girls who have friends or knows someone who's parents are really old have an idea of what they are dealing with. I would tell a third grader that this girls parents are old enough to be her grandparents and that grandparents usually have alot of health problems. And Trudy's dad could die because he is getting very old and he has health prolems. So this book is about a girl who tries to cope with everything new because she also has to go to Middle School now.

Evidence- I know the author is presenting factual information because I have friends who have older parents and I know (by my friends telling me) that their parents do have more health problems and all of the older people stuff going on. You can support your opinion by presenting facts that help you and having back-up information if somone says something that is not to your benefit.

Connection-This connects to the real world because their are some people who don't have their first child until they are fifty-three.(Like in the book.) And as their kids get older they do too and sometimes they will get a disease or something that causes them to die when their kid is five or six. This happened in the past and it will continue to happen in the future. This connects very well to a kid that I know who was adopted by a women who was prbably in her fifties when he was born and now is in her late sixties and her husband died around this time last year and he was in his seventies. And the little boy is only ten. His mom (who adopted him) has alot of health problems and he might have to go back up for adoption because his mom gets so sick very easily. And that is sad. And it is pretty close to what Trudy is going through in the book just not as bad as the little boy.

Supposition-If I changed one the elements it would deffinity affect the whole thing. Even if it was very very small thing that I had changed like she stopped failing her math class. That would deffinitly change alot. If this took place in the 1700's. Then her dad would be dead. Her mom probably too. And Trudy would be an orphin. If her mom didn't die. Then they would be dirt poor. And her mom would end up dying sooner anyways sine they were so poor.
