Significance- I chose to read this book because I am reading the series and I wanted to know what happened next. And I also read it because this book also has alot of good things in it. Like it talks about issues like war and it says that it is wrong in a very different way. It is not as direct as other books are about it. You have to pay attention to what your reading like it to find out what it really is about. The real-world situation using these concepts is that it has a character in it who went to war and suffered after he was injured with moving past the fact that he was killing other people and he saw death of course and didn't know what he was facing when he first joined the army.
Perspective- The author is clearly against the issue she is writing about. She wrote about how everyone is brothers and sisters in God's eyes and that killing them and fighting them is not going to fix any problem that you have. It just makes the world worse and a more corrupt place. If the reader of this book did not want to read the book then you probably wouldn't get the same thing out of it as someone who really did want to read the book. Alot of the things that happened you had to really concentrate on and remember things from like the first chapter.
Evidence- The argument that the author is trying to make is that you should not fight or think that violence is the only thing to solve problems. All it, is is saying, "How about we go out and start bombing and killing people and see how long it takes for them to give up. Then all of our problems will be fixed." There is never going to be a time when there is absolutely nothing wrong and every single person in the world is happy. It just won't happen because humans aren't perfect. And this is not my opinion this is a fact because everyone knows that nothing is perfect and even if this was an opinion then I could support it using other facts.
Connection- This connects to the real-world because all of this is happening in the real-world. This has always been going on and is probably not going to stop in the future. This can connect to someone else's life like my Great Great Uncle Simon who is still alive but actually fought in a war. He is lucky to still be alive because alot of people die in wars. I don't even thing he was badly injured. I thing he was just shot. But he isn't missing any fingers or toes or limbs. This can also connect to a friend of mine. Her father left to go fight in the war in Iraq and she is going through a hard time.
Supposition- If people never ever thought of war or fighting to be the 'answer' to problems then I think that the world would be alot more peaceful. People wouldn't have lost their mom or dad or son or daughter or aunt or uncle or cousin or Grandpa r Grandma or any family member or friend.

A Wind In the Door by Madeleine L' Engle
Significance- This is important because it is about all of the little things are just as important in the universe as the bigger things. And that everything matters and there is not one thing that does nothave a job that helps the universe survive. We should care about this because if on thing was taken out of our eco- system or one small detail in the universe was changed then it would change everything else with it. So if you took out plankten, then the fish that eat the plankten would die and the fish that eat the fish would die and then sharks would die and the population or what ever sharks eat that doesn't eat fish would increase. And it would be all messed up.
Perspective- I think the issue that the author is writing about is that all of the little things are not being appreciated. (Like the plankten.) And that people should care about these little things because everything has there own puprpose and it should all be appreciated. None of it should be taken for granted. If I needed to explain this to a third grader then I would tell them a short summary of the entire book and simplify everything.
Evidence- The argument being made is that there are not enough people who care about every little thing in the universe and thing you could take out one little detail and it won't make a difference. But it would. The facts that weaken the argument is that there are alot of people who do care about it and are aware of everything but there are still alot of poeple who aren't.
Connection- This connects to the real-world because it is about the real-world and how people are unaware of everything thing that helps us survive. This aplies to my life because I just realized everything that I took for granted. Like the plankten. I bet if you asked someone if they really appreciated them they would say 'No, they are just little organisms in the ocean.' But they aren't. They are apart of the food chain in the ocean. This inspires me to read the next book in the series. All the way until the series ends.
Suppostion- If everyone cared about every little detail in the universe than I think the world would be a better place. I think everyone would care and try to stop Global Warming. Animals would not be going extinct. We would not test on animals. People would not be so shallow. And carea bout themselves all the time. If it wasn't true that everything in the universe has a purpose, then I think...well I do not know what would happen. I can't imagine it. MAybe there would be nothing. I don't know.
